Another group of Russian children has been returned from a refugee camp in northeastern Syria with the assistance of the Russian Presidential Ombudsman for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova. This was reported in the press service of the Ombudsman on November 22.

"On November 22, with the assistance of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, another group of Russian children who were in a refugee camp in northeastern Syria were returned home," the text of the message reads.

The Children's Ombudsman said that among the children there are 14 boys and 12 girls aged from 5 to 12 years. She specified that they will undergo medical examination in one of the capital's federal clinics and rehabilitation in the Moscow resource center for family and childhood support, where teachers and psychologists will work with them.

"We will help the families in obtaining the necessary documents. Regional children's ombudsmen will provide assistance in education and medical support, obtaining social support measures," Lvova-Belova promised.

It is specified that specialists of the National Medical Research Center of Psychiatry and Narcology named after V.P. Serbsky and the Regional Children's Ombudsmen will provide assistance in matters of education and medical care. V.P. Serbsky and Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University provide psychological support to children and their relatives.

On the entire route home, the children were accompanied by doctors from the Pirogov Russian Children's Clinical Hospital and the Center for Forensic Science. Pirogov Russian Children's Clinical Hospital and the Forensic Medical Center of the Russian Ministry of Health.

Assistance was also provided by employees of the Russian Embassy in Damascus, Senator Konstantin Basyuk, servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces grouping in the Syrian Arab Republic and the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation.

"Taking into account today's group with the participation of the Institute of the Commissioner, a total of 592 children - from Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkey - have been returned to Russia," Maria Lvova-Belova summarized.

Earlier, on July 7, with the assistance of Lvova-Belova, a group of 20 Russian children in a refugee camp in northeastern Syria were returned home.

Before that, on March 10, Lvova-Belova reported the return of 32 children to Russia from Syria. The ombudsman recalled that a humanitarian mission to repatriate Russian children from the Middle East region has been underway since 2018.
