The conflict in Ukraine is entering a decisive phase. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this during a speech to a delegation of the Polish Teachers' Union on November 22.

"[The conflict] in the east is entering a decisive phase. We all know it," Polish newspaper Wiadomości quoted him as saying.

According to Tusk, "the unknown is approaching." He emphasized that no one in Europe can predict how the Ukrainian conflict will end, but the latest developments, in his opinion, show that "the threat is really serious and real."

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the successful defeat of an OPK facility in Dnipro by an Oreshnik missile in response to Ukraine's use of U.S. and British long-range weapons.

On the evening of November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.

The strike was carried out at the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipro. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), called the launch a fair response to Kiev's aggression against peaceful Russian cities. Later, in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired on May 20) demanded a reaction from the world.

At the same time, Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said in a briefing that Russia had notified Washington about the launch of the "Nutshell". As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained on November 22, Moscow did not warn the United States about the launch of Russia's new Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM), but an automatic alert was triggered.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
