The AFU lost more than 34 thousand soldiers during the fighting in the Kursk direction


The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 34,000 servicemen during the fighting in Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on November 22.
"In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 34,690 servicemen, 215 tanks, 147 infantry fighting vehicles <...>," the ministry said.
In addition, the Russian army destroyed other Ukrainian and foreign equipment on the territory of the Kursk region. Among them are 40 multiple rocket launchers, including 11 HIMARS and six US-made MLRS.
According to the Defense Ministry, over the course of the day, units of the "North" group defeated formations of Ukrainian army brigades in various populated areas of the Kursk region. They also eliminated manpower and equipment, as a result of which the AFU losses amounted to 150 people.
On the same day, crews of army aviation Ka-52M helicopters struck at personnel and armored military equipment of the AFU in the border area of Kursk region. The crews also performed an anti-missile maneuver after the use of enemy aircraft and released heat traps before returning to the departure site.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
