British man James Howells for 11 years looking for a hard drive with bitcoins (BTC) worth more than £500 million in a landfill, the BBC reported on November 22.

A man claims he threw away a hard drive containing the cryptocurrency by mistake more than 10 years ago and it is now in a landfill in Newport.

"The hard drive contains 8 thousand bitcoins, which at the time of disposal was about £4 million (more than 520 million rubles. - Ed.), but after the recent jump in value it exceeded £569 million (more than 73 billion rubles. - Ed.)," - stated in the material.

The Briton noted that he bought bitcoins at the dawn of the existence of cryptocurrency.

The day before the cost of bitcoin again broke through the historical maximum, breaking the mark of $ 99 thousand.

BitRiver financial analyst Vladislav Antonov told Izvestia on November 20 that bitcoin continues to show impressive growth. In his opinion, reaching the $100 thousand mark by the end of 2024 looks quite realistic. He noted that the current growth of the cryptocurrency is due to several key factors, such as the activation of the institutional sector.

November 11, Capital Lab partner Evgeny Shatov also suggested in a conversation with "Izvestia" that by the end of this year, the value of bitcoin may reach $100 thousand. He added that the rate will grow if Trump continues to declare support for cryptocurrencies and specific actions in this direction.
