The former head of the State Construction Supervision Committee of Kuzbass Tanzilya Komkova, who was sentenced by the court to 18 years in prison in the case of the fire in the shopping center "Winter Cherry" in Kemerovo, asked for early release. The materials say that the convict asks to be released from punishment due to illness, according to Art. 81 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (paragraph 6 of Art. 397 of the CPC RF).
Komkova was sentenced in December 2021, the court also appointed her a fine of 80 million rubles for bribery on a large scale, abuse of power and money laundering. She is serving her sentence in the Federal Penitentiary Institution IK-9 of the State Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region.
Earlier, on March 29, Izvestia correspondent reported that the Kemerovo Regional Court released from punishment for negligence of the former head of the Emergency Situations Directorate in Kuzbass Alexander Mamontov, sentenced to 10.5 years in prison in the case of the fire in the shopping center "Winter Cherry", due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. The corresponding decision was made by the appeal Commission.
In addition, the sentence of the former chief state inspector for fire supervision of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kemerovo Grigory Terentyev was mitigated from 8.5 to 7.5 years of general regime colony, he was also released due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
The fire in the "Winter Cherry" occurred on March 25, 2018. As a result, 60 people died, 37 of whom were children. In total, there were 15 defendants in the criminal case. According to the version of the investigation, they joined together in an organized criminal group and only created the appearance of compliance with fire safety rules, and in fact saved money.
In June and September last year, the Kemerovo Regional Court, after considering appeals, partially changed the sentences of a number of defendants in the case. In November, the former general director of Zimnyaya Cherry, Nadezhda Suddenok, was also released from her prison sentence due to her deteriorating health.
