AvtoVAZ clarified the possibility of the appearance of "Niva" with an automatic machine

AvtoVAZ does not plan to install an automatic gearbox on SUVs of the "Niva" family. This was announced by the head of the company Maxim Sokolov, TASS reported on November 22.

"No, there are no such plans," Sokolov said at the Transport of Russia forum-exhibition.

However, as noted at AvtoVAZ, it is technically possible to equip "Nivas" with an automatic transmission, but such a modification will not be in demand among buyers, the company believes.

According to the analytical agency "Avtostat", the cars of the Niva family at the end of October 2024 were among the top ten best-selling cars in Russia. The classic Niva Legend took the seventh place, and Niva Travel - the eighth.

On November 8, AvtoVAZ Vice President for Sales and Marketing Dmitry Kostromin said that the company has no plans to develop and produce a new generation of the Lada Niva SUV.

On July 23, the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov said that serial production of Lada Niva Sport SUVs will begin in December 2024. According to the top manager, next year, more powerful 1.8-liter engines will be installed on the main assembly line for all Niva modifications - first for the Travel and then for the Legend.
