China's Foreign Ministry has called for restraint on the parties to the conflict in Ukraine, the ministry's spokesman Lin Jian said on November 22.

"Under the current circumstances, all sides should remain calm and restraint," TASS quoted him as saying.

The diplomat added that efforts should be made to cool the situation through dialog and create conditions for a political settlement to achieve a ceasefire.

The previous night, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one.
