The world should react harshly to the test of the Oreshnyk medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM). Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, said on November 21.

"The world must react to this. There is no stronger reaction of the world now," Zelensky wrote in his Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian president also said that Russia "must be forced to true peace, which is possible only through force."

"It is necessary to react. It is necessary to press <...> Real peace is worth acting for it. It is necessary to act," Zelensky added.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state. According to him, the regional conflict has acquired elements of global character. The head of state also said that one of the newest Russian medium-range missile systems was tested in combat conditions - a ballistic missile in nuclear-free hypersonic equipment called "Oreshnik" was used.

Later, footage of the Russian Armed Forces striking the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipropetrovsk with the Oreshnik missile was published. The footage shows parts of the missile hitting the facilities, followed by bright flashes.

Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), called the launch of the Oreshnik IRBM an adequate response to aggression against Russia. He also emphasized that Oreshnik will remind "all those who have forgotten about it" that Russia cannot be defeated.

In his turn, Associate Professor of Political Philosophy and Geopolitics, consultant in strategic analysis, geopolitics and international relations, publisher and journalist Lorenzo Pacini in a conversation with Izvestia noted that the new "Oreshnik" system and its test is a sign to the West not to provoke Russia.

The special operation to defend Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
