The process of agreeing on the dates of the Venezuelan leader's arrival in Russia is now being conducted through diplomatic channels, the Russian embassy in Caracas told Izvestia.

"Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has an invitation to pay a visit to Russia. The terms of such a visit are being coordinated through diplomatic channels," the diplomatic mission said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko handed the Venezuelan leader an invitation from Vladimir Putin to visit Russia in 2025. During the upcoming visit, the two countries are expected to sign a treaty on strategic partnership and cooperation.

Nicolas Maduro met with Vladimir Putin in October 2024 during the BRICS summit in Kazan.
