Political scientist called the launch of "Nuttall" an unambiguous reaction to the actions of the West

The strike by the Oreshnik medium-range combat missile is Russia's unambiguous response to an attempt on its territorial integrity by the West. Igor Semenovsky, a political scientist and associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on November 21.

"In this response, there is an unambiguous reaction of the Russian Federation to the invasion of its sovereign interests, including its territorial integrity," he said.

Semenovsky also emphasized that the strike was unexpected for the West, and Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech left Western leaders confused.

"The speech has put Western leaders in confusion, only developing a position. Western politicians are in confusion, choosing a response," the expert said.

According to him, the Ukrainian conflict is becoming global in nature, and the actions of Western countries violate the norms of international law.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state. According to him, the regional conflict has acquired elements of global character. He also announced that the Russian state had tested the Oreshnik missile in response to NATO 's aggressive actions.

Soon, footage of the Russian Armed Forces striking the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipropetrovsk with the Oreshnik missile was published. The footage shows parts of the missile hitting the facilities, followed by bright flashes.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov later said that Russian authorities had sent the US a notification about the use of the Oreshnik half an hour before its launch.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
