It is important for Moldova to restore relations with Russia after the end of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean in an interview with TV-8 on November 21.

"Today we have very tense relations with the Russian Federation. What is important is how to restore these relations," Recean was quoted as saying in the Telegram channel Sputnik Moldova.

Relations between Russia and Moldova began to deteriorate after Maya Sandu won the presidential election in the republic in 2020. In 2022, Moldova joined sanctions against Russia and dozens of diplomats from Chisinau were expelled. In April this year, the republic's Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi said that relations between Chisinau and Moscow were at their lowest level in the history of modern Moldova.

Earlier, on November 12, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry handed a note of protest to the Russian ambassador in Chisinau , Oleg Ozerov, over alleged "Russian interference in the elections in the republic."

Before that, on November 7, Oleg Matveychev, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma committee on information policy, information technologies and communications, said that Sandu won the election thanks to huge fraud. In addition, she started defeating her rival, former Moldovan Prosecutor-General Alexandru Stoianoglo, at the very end of the vote count, when the turn of ballots from polling stations in the EU countries came up.
