Deputies proposed to introduce a unified pricing system in theaters

Deputies have appealed to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with a request to consider the possibility of establishing a unified pricing system in state theaters, including limiting the growth of ticket prices to the level of annual inflation. The corresponding letter was sent to the chairman of the Russian government by Yana Lantratova and Sergei Mironov. "Izvestia" got acquainted with the document on November 22.
In the appeal they, among other things, cited data from Rosstat, according to which the average cost of a ticket to the theater for the period from January to August 2024 was 972 rubles, while for the same period of time in 2023 it was at the level of 883 rubles.
"Numerous sources note a significant increase in prices for tickets to theaters, especially noticeable when comparing with the indicators of two years ago", - stated in the appeal.
It is specified that the pricing of tickets in theaters is regulated by cultural institutions independently. At the same time, earlier deputies noted that ticket prices for state theaters should be set by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the pricing process should be based on the level of income of citizens in the regions of the country, the document emphasizes.
The deputies drew attention to the fact that the rise in ticket prices was caused, among other things, by the increase in the cost of productions due to the rise in the cost of utilities, transportation costs, as well as payments to actors, directors and other members of the staff. In addition, some theaters are forced to raise prices to combat speculators so they cannot resell tickets at a markup.
"It seems appropriate to limit the increase in ticket prices of state theaters to the level of annual inflation. To achieve this goal, it is proposed to establish monitoring and centralized regulation of ticket prices for state theaters by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Dear Mikhail Vladimirovich, we ask you to consider the possibility of establishing a unified system of pricing
in state theaters, including limiting the growth of ticket prices in state theaters to the level of annual prices for tickets to state theaters.
in state theaters to the level of annual inflation and present the position of the Government of the Russian Federation on this issue", - stated in the appeal.
Earlier, on November 19, in the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater (MAMT) told "Izvestia" that pricing in the institution is dictated, among other things, by the consolidated position of the theatrical community to combat resellers. They also specified that the prices for the ballet "The Nutcracker" are higher than for other productions because it is one of the productions in high demand.
