On Monday, November 25, Russian schools and colleges will host another lesson from the "Talking About Important Things" series. It will talk about the need to build personal boundaries, to take care of oneself and others. How the lesson will be held in different classes, tell "Izvestia".

"Conversations about important" on November 25 - the theme of the lesson

The theme of the new lesson is "Taking Care of Yourself and Others". Its main goal is the formation of value attitudes in pupils, respectful attitude to emotions and feelings of other people. Among other tasks - expansion of ideas about personal boundaries, interrelation of physical and emotional health, as well as development of skills of self-regulation of behavior.

During the discussion, students will play team games and interactive tasks that will help them master the topic of the lesson and learn how feelings and emotions affect human health and why it is important to learn how to regulate their emotional state.

The Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University (MGPPU) will be a partner of the lesson. Also Olga Ulyanina, a practicing psychologist, head of the Federal Coordination Center for the provision of psychological services in the educational system, will join the lesson in video format.

The lesson will last 30 minutes. All methodological materials and recommendations are published on the project website.

First and second graders will play a game "We Learn to Communicate" and talk about ways to express their feelings. As a post-conversation talk about relationships in the class, which will help to overcome disagreements between classmates and to establish relations after a quarrel.

Third- and fourth-graders will be invited to discuss the meaning of the phrase "He is the master of his emotions" and will be told why it is necessary to be able to cope with one's emotions, especially negative ones. They will be helped to understand the diversity of emotions and feelings by the advice of a professional psychologist.

The lesson in fifth-eighth grades will be supplemented by watching the video "Once upon a time" from the humorous newsreel "Eralash". The video will allow children to realize the difference between self-care and selfishness, as well as why it is necessary to take care of other people, in particular, of their friends and relatives.

In eighth and ninth grades, to continue the theme, they will be offered to watch an excerpt from the movie "Shall We Talk?", produced by "Movement First". After watching the movie, pupils will discuss which of the characters in the movie do not have enough internal resources to help their loved ones in times of need, and how this affects the other characters in the film. The main message of the movie is that when a person is physically or emotionally exhausted, it affects his environment. That is why it is so important to take care of one's physical and mental health.

In grades 10-11, students will be introduced to such a concept as "emotional intelligence", which will allow them to better understand both their own feelings and the inner motives of others. Students will also be offered to analyze illustrative material and different game situations that model behavioral strategies.

College students will analyze what is spiritual, moral and civic maturity of a person. Next, the teacher will organize the viewing and discussion of the video "Floors of Care" based on a fragment from Academician Dmitry Likhachev's book "Letters about the Good and Beautiful". This famous work is addressed to young people, helping them to establish relationships with people, to live in harmony with themselves and the world around them.

"Talking About What Matters" is a series of after-school classes launched by the Ministry of Education in 2022. The lessons take place every Monday in schools, colleges and technical colleges. Students are told about the history, state structure and culture of Russia. A number of topics are devoted to family values, topical issues of everyday and school life.

The last lesson was held on November 18. It discussed what artificial intelligence is and how it affects our lives.
