Lavrov arrives in Brest to participate in the meeting of the Collegiums of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Belarus

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Brest to participate in a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Belarus. This was reported by the correspondent of "Izvestia" on November 21.

"Sergei Lavrov was met with bread and salt in Brest, where tomorrow he will take part in a meeting of the collegiums of the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Belarus," the journalist reports.

The minister was met by his Belarusian counterpart Maxim Ryzhenkov and other officials at the airplane ramp.

Meetings of the Russian and Belarusian Foreign Ministers' Collegiums have been held annually since 2000. They discuss the interaction of the two states in the international arena, including cooperation in the SCO, BRICS, as well as in the context of countering Western sanctions.

Earlier, November 11, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich told Izvestia that Moscow and Minsk had completed work on a treaty on security guarantees of the Union State (SU). The document will include the principle of the use of nuclear and conventional weapons, as well as other methods of defense of the Union State.

The new security concept of the Union State, which will replace the document adopted back in 1999, will enshrine a provision on joint counteraction to the policies of the United States, unfriendly NATO states and the European Union to achieve strategic goals of mutually beneficial and equal international cooperation.
