Experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP) are not coping satisfactorily with fixing provocations by Ukraine. This was reported by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, in his Telegram channel on November 21.

"The main task of IAEA experts is to fix threats and provocations against the ZNPP and analyze their consequences. Unfortunately, the representatives of the agency cope with this unsatisfactorily. This, in general, is the main problem of the report - once again it does not indicate that it is the Ukrainian side that poses threats to the safety of ZNPP," he said.

According to Ulyanov, the IAEA Director General's report "Nuclear Safety, Nuclear Security and Safeguards in Ukraine" presents information in a one-sided and distorted manner, and glosses over important facts.

Experts have information to point to Ukraine's guilt in jeopardizing the safety of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, but they fear "political consequences", the diplomat said.

Earlier, on November 20, IAEA head Rafael Grossi said that the situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP is unstable. According to Grossi, all six reactors of the plant are still in cold shutdown mode. On this basis, the agency continues to insist that none of them should be restarted as long as threats to the nuclear and physical safety of ZNPP remain.

Prior to that, on November 15, Rosatom notified the agency of massive shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) using barrel artillery in Energodar, where the Zaporizhzhya NPP is located.

Ukrainian troops regularly try to attack the Kursk and Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plants. Thus, on October 3, a fire was reported in the town of Kurchatov, 5 km from the Kursk nuclear power plant. At that time, the Ukrainian armed forces made four attempts to attack the plant, but they were repelled by Russian air defense systems.
