HR expert named a way to make a good impression at a job interview

Alyona Chukina, career expert at the Professions of the Future Center, named on Thursday, November 21, ways to show your best side to a potential employer at a job interview. She said that in order to make a good impression, it is important to be able to apply the art of speech strategies and non-verbal communications.
"Impression management is a unique tool consisting of two perceptual strategies: verbal and non-verbal. They allow you to form the right image of a successful person to establish communication, promotion at work or in their own business, as well as allow you to leave a lasting trace in the memory of a person. And both positive and negative", - said Chukina in conversation with Lenta.Ru.
According to the expert, the correct verbal strategy is based on a person's speech, the ability to clearly and concisely express thoughts and adapt their speech to the audience. This also includes the use of appropriate tones and intonation, strength and volume of voice, as well as the ability to listen and ask questions, she added.
Chukina emphasized that everyone can learn the skill of speech management and use it to make connections, get a job interview, and endear themselves to a person or audience. To do this, she recommended to continuously enrich your vocabulary through reading, pay attention to the purity of speech and get rid of words-parasites.
Clean speech will give weight to the words of the applicant and create an image of a confident person whose lines can wait. Speak clearly and to the point, without jumping from topic to topic.
She also noted that the non-verbal strategy of impression management is based on gestures, facial expressions, eye contact and posture. The expert specified that at the interview the recruiter and the job seeker see each other for the first time and if the candidate sits with a straight posture, straight shoulders, open posture (without crossing legs and arms and a relaxed face), this image will speak of the person's confidence.
"To make a positive impression at the first meeting, you should be emotionally restrained, look into the eyes of the interlocutor and smile welcomingly. During the conversation keep your head straight, straighten your shoulders and gesticulate with your hands, showing your palms," Chukina said.
One should not forget about tidy appearance and good mood, which will help to create the right impression.
The career expert warned that sighing, frowning face, compressed lips, raised shoulders, crossed arms or legs, avoiding eye contact are examples to avoid.
