Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a working meeting in Tashkent on Thursday, November 21, during which the parties discussed a project on cyber security.

According to Krasnov, the prosecutors' offices of both countries "fruitfully cooperate" on a wide range of issues of protecting citizens' rights and fighting crime. He said that he proposed to Uzbek Prosecutor General Nigmatilla Yuldashev to more actively use the practice of holding multilateral international events on the most pressing areas of supervisory activity, to build up interaction in the educational sphere.

In addition, the Russian Prosecutor General noted that he fully supports Mirziyoyev's view on the need to establish systemic interaction between the competent bodies of the CIS in order to improve methods of combating modern criminal threats.

He also positively assessed the position of Uzbek partners who supported the Russian initiative to develop a comprehensive UN international convention aimed at combating the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes.

"The participation of Russia and Uzbekistan in the world's first global international treaty of this format will consolidate the leading role of our countries in this area," he said.

In conclusion, Krasnov expressed confidence in further deepening of cooperation between the supervisory bodies. According to him, this partnership will contribute to the strengthening of good neighborly relations between the two states.

The day before Krasnov arrived in Tashkent to discuss with his Uzbek counterpart Nigmatilla Yuldashev the main issues related to cooperation between the agencies of the two countries. The heads of the agencies also shared each other's views on developing new common solutions to improve mechanisms for protecting citizens' rights and fighting crime.
