The Central Transport Hub development project will be based on the experience of launching the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). This was announced by the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin in his Telegram channel on November 21.
He recalled that the first and second Moscow Central Diameters opened in the capital in 2019.
"Over a five-year period, Moscow's surface metro transported one billion passengers. Today, 1.4 million people use it every day," Sobyanin said.
The mayor of the capital also told about the directions of development of diameters in the coming years.
"We are working on continuing the development of the Central transport hub, we will take the experience of the MCD as a basis. We continue to renew the rolling stock and improve the principles of the MCD, which are turning into full-fledged Moscow city stations," Sobyanin pointed out, adding that Testovskaya station will become the largest urban station of Moscow City on the MCD-1.
By 2025 the mayor promised to utilize two reconstructed platforms of MCD-1 and the southern concourse, and by 2026 - the northern concourse and a new coastal platform.
Earlier, on October 25, Sergei Sobyanin said that MCDs are a driving force in the process of increasing the number of passengers who use public transport. He added that in recent years, passenger traffic of railway radii converted into MCDs has increased by 30%.
Before that, in March, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin told journalists that the MCC routes will be extended to 11 regions of the Central Transport Hub.
