UAZ patented a new steering wheel for Patriot

Ulyanovsk automobile plant has patented a new steering wheel, its images appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) on November 21.

The steering wheel is designed for the modernized UAZ "Patriot" SUV, in design it repeats the wheel, the image of which Izvestia published in October.

The new steering wheel is truncated in the lower part and has a smaller diameter, thickenings in the places of grip and airbag. On the patent images there are no blocks of control keys for on-board electronics. Probably, the application shows the steering wheel for the car in the base configuration.

It is expected that the updated UAZ "Patriot" will receive LED optics, stylistically change the front panel and the center tunnel. The main innovation will be under the hood - a two-liter diesel engine, which is almost identical to the one produced at the engine plant of the company "Sollers" in Alabuga and installed on the models of the domestic brand Sollers.

The day before it was reported that the state corporation "Rosatom" registered patent images of a crossover with an electric powertrain. The crossover in the documents is stated as "electric car made of composite materials".

On November 11, it became known that the premiere of the updated UAZ Patriot is scheduled for November 2025.
