A chemist advised against storing medicines in the bathroom and kitchen

Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy of RTU MIREA Alexei Panov reported on Thursday, November 21, on how to properly store medicines. The expert noted that storage of medicines is an important aspect that can significantly affect their effectiveness and safety.
The chemist pointed out that many people often store medicines in the bathroom or kitchen, but this is not the best option. According to the expert, the bathroom has high humidity, which can provoke changes and destruction of the dosage form, and in the kitchen often medicines can be exposed to high temperatures, especially if they lie in drawers near or above the stove.
"It is better to store the medicine cabinet in other rooms, such as a bedroom or living room, where temperature and humidity remain stable," said Panov in conversation with Lenta.Ru.
At the same time, the optimal place to store medicines is a refrigerator, said the expert. He recommended to provide a special compartment or a separate container for drugs in it, so as not to accidentally confuse them with food, reports 360.ru.
Panov also urged to use drugs strictly within the expiration date specified in the instructions, even if they are stored in the refrigerator.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Health Minister Yevgeny Kamkin said that the authorities are now facing the task of ensuring import-independence of the country and domestic drugs should occupy 90 percent of the market by the end of 2025.
Earlier in the day it was reported that specialists of the immune engineering laboratory of Sechenov University of the Ministry of Health in cooperation with a scientific group from the Research Institute of Fundamental and Clinical Immunology are developing Russia's first in its class immunoengineered drug for cancer treatment.
This is TCR-therapy, in which genetically modified T-lymphocytes (white cells in human blood that promote antibody production and destroy viral cells) of the patient are used to fight cancer cells. The modification allows them to produce tumor-specific T-cell receptors, without which the tumor itself cannot be recognized and destroyed.
