An attack on a convoy of vehicles in Pakistan kills 38 people


An armed attack on a convoy of passenger cars heading towards the city of Peshawar was carried out in northwest Pakistan. Geo News reported on November 21 that 38 people are tentatively known dead after gunfire was fired at the vehicles.
"In a fresh violent incident, at least 38 people, including a woman and a child, were killed after assailants opened fire on passenger vehicles in Ochat area of Kurram District," the media outlet pointed out.
According to police, there were also injured in the incident. Among them are three women. Ambulances are at the scene of the incident.
The country's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a press conference in Islamabad where he strongly condemned the firing in Kurram. As the media outlet adds, the said area of Pakistan has been "marred by clashes between different tribes" for months. They have claimed the lives of several dozen people.
Prior to that, on August 14, it was reported that as a result of aerial firing on the occasion of Independence Day in the city of Karachi in southern Pakistan, a child was killed and 95 people were injured. According to the Dawn portal, dozens of wounded were admitted to the city's clinics. Among the injured were many women, children and elderly people. Some of them were in serious condition. Law enforcement agencies arrested 19 people involved in the shooting on the same day. Criminal cases were opened and small arms were confiscated.
