Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) fighters who have arrived in Kupyansk are engaged in looting and pillaging in the city. This was stated on Thursday, November 21, by the deputy head of the military-civil administration (MCA) of Kharkiv region on defense and security Yevhen Lisnyak.

"In Kupyansk, Kovsharovka settlement and neighboring settlements the armed formations of Ukraine have carried out rotation of units. Newly arrived servicemen are actively engaged in looting and pillaging," he said at a briefing.

According to Lisnyak, local residents report looting by Ukrainian military personnel who, with the participation of the head of the Kupyan city military administration, Andriy Besedin, steal and sell furniture, transformers, building materials and humanitarian aid. Besedin allegedly provides the military with official vehicles to transport the stolen property for a fee.

The deputy head of the Ukrainian State Administration also noted that he had received information about the creation of a sabotage squad by the Ukrainian security services, which is planned to be thrown into Kupyansk after its liberation by the Russian Armed Forces. Students were allegedly forcibly recruited to the unit using threats and psychological pressure. Its tasks will be sabotage of infrastructure facilities and intelligence gathering.

Earlier, on October 31, the head of Kursk region Alexei Smirnov said that the AFU fighters and mercenaries mistreated civilians during the invasion of border areas and engaged in looting. He noted that lists of affected houses and apartments were being formed in the region. The residents who lost their homes will be given housing certificates, and a request for allocation of funds from the budget has already been sent.
