A new batch of Russian Tor-M2 SAMs has arrived in Belarus

The Belarusian troops received a new battery of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) "Tor-M2," which will provide air defense of designated objects. This was reported by the Defense Ministry of Belarus on November 21.

"The complexes received in Belarus are finalized by Russian designers, taking into account the experience of their use in air defense," noted in the Telegram-channel of the ministry.

It stated that the new complex can perform combat missions in any climatic conditions. Thus, a battery of Tor-M2 SAMs is able to "simultaneously hit 16 targets from any direction with a speed of up to 730 m/s at a range of up to 12 km and an altitude of up to 10 km" both during the day and at night.

Colonel Andrei Severinchik, head of anti-aircraft missile forces of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus, called the arrival of a new batch of SAMs "a vivid example of fruitful military-technical cooperation" between Russia and Belarus.

Prior to that, October 23, the defense ministries of Belarus and Russia at a joint board meeting in Minsk approved a plan of cooperation, which includes more than 160 activities. The main of them will be a joint strategic exercise of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation "West-2025" in 2025.

Head of the Main Department of Combat Training of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Major General Vladimir Belyi, also reported on October 19 that Belarusian servicemen were sent to Russia for training in one of the combat training centers as part of the continuation of the joint training program for the military of the two countries. The best of the trained personnel will become full-time instructors in the formations and military units of Belarus. On 23 October Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated that cooperation between Russia and Belarus in training military personnel was effective.
