The eastern front in Ukraine may collapse if the current pace of the Russian Armed Forces' (RF Armed Forces) offensive is maintained. This was reported by the British broadcaster BBC on November 20, citing military experts.

"Dr. Marina Miron, a defense researcher from King's College London, suggested in an interview with the BBC that there is a possibility that the Ukrainian eastern front 'could really collapse' if Russia continues to advance at this pace," the publication said.

In addition, the piece notes that the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Kursk region has become a "strategic disaster" amid a shortage of military personnel in the ranks of the Ukrainian army. Kiev assumed, the authors of the article write, that this operation would divert Russian troops from the territory of Donbas and ease the situation for the AFU, but as a result, they found themselves "tied up" in the region.

Earlier, on October 3, journalist Volodymyr Boyko, who joined the Ukrainian army, said that nothing will be able to stop the collapse of the AFU on the front line. According to him, the soldiers are not going to die for the "rotten corrupt regime".

The Daily Beast reported the day before that the AFU fighters complained of fatigue. According to one of the AFU fighters, some soldiers have been on the front line since February 2022. According to the publication, there is a shortage of people in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, due to this the military is exhausted.

In the same month, it was reported that Ukrainian soldiers refused to listen to their commanders because of orders to attack Russian soldiers without weapons and because of corruption in the army. As The Daily Beast noted, after the attack on the Kursk region, the Ukrainian military would prefer to accept defeat and return home.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term in office expired on May 20, said that the situation on the front line was very difficult for the Ukrainian army. According to him, success in fighting depends on everyone in the "Ukrainian team".

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
