Orban pointed to the end of the era of dominance of Western civilization

The era of dominance of Western civilization is over, the strategy of Westernization of the whole world has failed. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during the Eurasia Forum in Budapest on November 21.
"Liberal-progressive dominance in the Western world is over. The idea that the whole world should be organized according to the Western model and that the nations selected for it would be willing to do so in exchange for economic and financial benefits has failed," he was quoted as saying by Hungary's ORIGO news agency.
According to Orban, Asian nations have grown stronger and proved that they are capable of existing economically and politically independently. That is why "the center of the world economy has shifted to the East, and Eastern economies are growing four times faster than Western economies," he said.
"It is difficult for Western leaders to give up their inherent sense of superiority, and Western man has been getting used to this feeling for centuries," he said.
Orban suggested that the next century will be "Eurasian" and Europe will not be able to place itself in that context because it has "lost" from the changes in the world.
"Judging by purchasing power parity, if the EU were part of the US, it would be the third poorest state. This shows that Europe is constantly losing and is the number one loser in the current processes. European countries are no longer among the top five countries of the world economy," the Prime Minister emphasized.
Earlier, on November 7, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Europe today has become a more dangerous and less competitive place than a few years ago. He explained that the European Union (EU) should expand and establish closer cooperation with non-EU countries.
