Court remanded ex-deputy head of Karelia Lyubarsky in custody for two months


Former deputy head of Karelia on domestic policy, ex-mayor of Petrozavodsk Vladimir Lyubarsky was remanded in custody for two months in a bribery case. This was reported on November 21 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) in the Republic of Karelia.
"The court elected a measure of restraint in the form of remand in custody for a period of two months, until January 19, 2025 inclusive," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
Lyubarsky is accused of receiving a bribe in a particularly large amount from representatives of a commercial enterprise through an intermediary. It was specified that the total amount of bribes amounted to more than 37 million rubles. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the money was transferred to him for assisting health care institutions of the republic in the conclusion and execution of state contracts for the organization of therapeutic catering.
November 20, a criminal case was opened against Lyubarsky under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe in the form of money in a particularly large amount by an official through an intermediary). As a result of searches at his place of residence, large sums of money were seized.
The investigation found that the bribe was received by the ex-deputy head of Karelia in the period from 2017 to 2022.
