FTAR nominated Russian Sports Minister Degtyarev for the post of ROC President


The Russian Weightlifting Federation (RWF) has nominated Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev for the post of President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). This was reported on November 21 by the press service of the federation.
It is noted that the decision was made during a meeting of the executive committee of the FTAR.
"For the post of president of the ROC from the FTAR nominated Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Degtyarev Mikhail Vladimirovich", - stated in the message of the press service in the social network "VKontakte".
Earlier, on October 17, Degtyarev announced his readiness to nominate his candidacy for the post of president of the ROC. On the same day, his candidacy was proposed by Shamil Tarpishchev, head of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF), at a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports within the framework of the forum "Russia - a Sporting Power". He noted that Degtyarev's appointment as president of the ROC may be justified under current conditions. Degtyarev, for his part, said that his main task in the ROC is to restore the rights of Russian athletes.
Head of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov resigned on November 13. The meeting of the Olympic Assembly, which will elect a new president of the ROC, will be held on December 13.
