The U.S. says ATACMS missiles are incapable of ensuring Kiev's victory

The Kiev regime will lose the conflict with Russia even with US President Joe Biden 's authorization to strike Russian territory with long-range ATACMS missiles. Such a forecast was given by military expert, retired US Armed Forces Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis on the pages of The National Interest magazine.
"It doesn't matter how many long-range missiles we transfer to Ukraine. By themselves, they will not change the dynamics on the battlefield in any way - any more than the previous transfer of Western tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery pieces, air defense equipment, HIMARS systems, or even the lauded [fighter jets] F-16s. <Conflict> Kiev has lost. Period," he wrote in an article published on Nov. 20.
According to the expert, Biden's attempted "gambit" on Ukraine may come out sideways for the United States itself, which risks a direct clash with Russia.
At the same time, Davis noted that the reckless step of the current head of the White House will not bring any military benefit, will hinder the attempts of President-elect Donald Trump to resolve the conflict and may increase the price of Kiev's loss.
Earlier on November 19, the Russian military shot down five ATACMS missiles launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Bryansk region and damaged another one. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called it a signal that the West wants to escalate the conflict.
Before that, on November 17, The New York Times reported that Biden allegedly allowed Ukraine to use US long-range missiles to strike Russia. The White House did not confirm this fact officially.
Russian Kremlin presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the Biden administration wants the conflict in Ukraine to continue, and that the Ukrainian armed forces' strikes with Western long-range missiles deep into Russian territory are a new escalation. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that such use of missiles would receive an "adequate and tangible" response.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to carry it out was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
