Former Bridgestone tire plant resumes production in Ulyanovsk

Tire plant Gislaved in Ulyanovsk (former Bridgestone) resumed production, the restart of the site began with the production of a new summer model, which will be produced under the brand Cordiant. This is stated in the message of the holding company "Cordiant", which was received by "Izvestia" on November 21.

In 2025 the assortment of the plant is planned to expand including models of the premium brand Gislaved. The start of winter tire production is scheduled for the first half of 2025.

"All standard tests and certifications required for the resumption of production have been completed, confirming the safety of products and readiness for the start of sales. A total of 1.2 million tires are planned to be produced at the plant in Ulyanovsk in 2025," the company said.

The holding calls the Gislaved plant in Ulyanovsk one of the most modern full-cycle tire enterprises in Russia with a production capacity of 2.4 million tires per year. Until December 2023, the plant belonged to the Japanese manufacturer of premium tires, then joined the perimeter of Kordiant Holding. In July 2024, the enterprise was named Gislaved (the same name as the premium tire brand included in the product portfolio of the holding). At the same time, a division of the scientific and technical center "Intair" was opened on the basis of the enterprise - its specialists adapt formulations, test prototypes and products, as well as develop new models for further loading of the plant.

The Kordiant holding includes five production sites, including the plants of JSC Kordiant in Omsk and Yaroslavl and enterprises bought out from foreign owners: the former Continental in Kaluga and Bridgestone in Ulyanovsk (now - Gislaved plants). The total production capacity of the holding "Kordiant" - up to 15 million tires per year.

August 7, it was reported that the tire cluster "Cordiant " is developing products of the class "ultra-premium", a line of tires will be produced under a new brand. Now the range of the manufacturer includes several brands of different levels: Tunga, Cordiant, Torero and Gislaved. The fifth tire brand will stand a step above Gislaved.
