The constant presence in the Western media of former politicians who actively sway the anti-Russian stance is a common practice. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said this at a briefing on November 21, answering Izvestia's question.

"This is an absolute norm for them, because they are connected, as I said already, with lobbying and sometimes directly with the structures of the deep state, and this is also lobbying, money distribution, and PR campaigns. This is such a practice for them," the diplomat said.

As Zakharova noted, these individuals are usually linked to a large number of lobbying institutions and PR-agencies, and their appointments are often determined by the principle of "revolving door policy," which is based primarily on loyalty to some grouping.

Such politicians are not experts or objective observers, but spread a Russophobia-soaked message and omit important details, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.

According to her, while these people attend various broadcasts in the West, a number of Western publicists are banned from speaking publicly in their homeland, and they get such an opportunity in the Russian media.

Earlier, on October 20, British politician George Galloway told Izvestia on October 20 that residents of Western countries are faced with total disinformation and concealment of the truth in their own media. Because of this state of affairs, people there are abandoning the so-called mainstream media and seeking the truth elsewhere, he believes.

Before that, on October 16, the Russian Embassy in Sweden pointed out the Russophobia of the local edition of Svenska Dagbladet. The diplomatic mission drew attention to the fact that the publication's authors make false claims about the Kremlin's alleged involvement in the penetration of unknown persons into a water tower in Stockholm.
