- The media said that anti-personnel mines handed over to the AFU by the United States were useless

Sending US anti-personnel mines to Ukraineis a controversial decision as it will not help prevent the advance of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) in the war zone. This was reported by Sky News television channel on Thursday, November 21.
"The long front line in eastern Ukraine is gradually moving westward as Russia makes more and more advances," the article says.
The piece also noted that the dispatch of mines is linked to a "broader strategic objective." In two months, newly elected President Donald Trump will come to power in the United States, which is why Biden is trying to make as many decisions as possible to support Ukraine before "the front line may be frozen."
The Washington Post (WP) reported the day before that the current US president authorized the supply of anti-personnel mines to Ukraine to "deter the advance of Russian troops." WP recalled that in 2022 he renewed the ban on the use of such mines, effectively reversing the decision of his predecessor Donald Trump.
Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin later confirmed the decision. In his opinion, such mines would be safer than the bombs that Ukraine manufactures on its own.
Political scientist, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen pointed out that Biden gave the AFU permission on mines because Kiev is in a desperate position on the battlefield. The expert emphasized that this step of the American president is controversial, because anti-personnel mines pose a danger to civilians.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to carry it out was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
