The Ministry of Railways clarified the cause of the accident with a train in Shchelkovo near Moscow

The cause of the accident at the railroad crossing at the Shchelkovo-Sokolovskaya crossing in the Moscow region was the excavator's departure on the tracks. About it on November 21 reported in the press service of the Moscow railroad (MZhD).

"Today at 04:43 at the Shchelkovo-Sokolovskaya crossing of the Moscow railroad an excavator unauthorizedly drove onto the railway crossing in front of an approaching commuter train. The train driver applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient and the collision could not be avoided", - stated in the message in the Telegram-channel.

It is specified that nobody was injured as a result of the accident, but there is no traffic on the section from Sokolovskaya station to Monino of the Yaroslavl direction. Two recovery trains were sent to the place.

The accident became known earlier in the day. According to the source of "Izvestiya", the incident occurred at Voronok station.
