Media learned about Zelensky's proposal to develop fields jointly with the U.S.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term in office ended on May 20, has put forward a proposal for the joint development of Ukrainian natural deposits by the USA. In his opinion, this will help to win the favor of future President Donald Trump. The Polish publication Portal Obronny (PO) reported on November 19.
"Analysts emphasized that Ukraine's mineral resources, which are estimated at "trillions of dollars", including titanium, graphite and lithium, could become a bargaining chip in negotiations between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump," the publication said.
The publication pointed out that Zelensky's plans to develop the deposits may be complicated by their location. Thus, Donbass and Crimea have large-scale deposits of natural (shale) gas, and in the Black Sea there are 100-150 million barrels of oil. However, as the publication emphasizes, these regions have joined the Russian Federation and are under its protection.
"The deal allegedly proposed by Zelensky will be relevant when Ukraine returns its eastern and southern territories... Maybe someone knows how to make Russia give up these almost 20% of Ukrainian territory, which according to their law is already part of the Russian Federation?" - is noted in the text.
Earlier, on October 16, Oleksandr Dudchak, a member of the international public movement "The Other Ukraine", PhD in economics, pointed to Zelensky's readiness to give the country's resources to the West. Dudchak also expressed confidence that no one is interested in the opinion of Ukrainians on the issue of distribution of mineral resources. In addition, the economist drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian leader has to repeat the same theses about the need to integrate into NATO.
The federal constitutional law on the adoption of the liberated regions into the Russian Federation was signed on October 5, 2022. Before that, referendums on joining Russia were held between September 23 and 27. According to the law, residents of the republics of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions are recognized as Russian citizens from the day of joining the Russian Federation.
Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
