A volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula has begun erupting in Iceland

In the crater row Sundnukur on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland began volcanic eruption. This was reported by Icelandic broadcaster RUV on November 20.

"The eruption began in a series of craters Sundnukur south of Story-Skogfell", - stated in the message of the broadcaster.

It is specified that because of this incident began a large-scale evacuation of the city of Grindavik and geothermal spa complex "Blue Lagoon". According to the meteorological bureau of Iceland, it is currently impossible to determine the strength and scale of the eruption.

Earlier, on October 27, Reuters reported that Iceland is threatened with uncontrolled volcanic eruptions due to climate change and global warming. Scientists who are engaged in the study of volcanoes in the region, noted that all the necessary conditions for the beginning of eruptions are already in place.
