The arrest term of the advisor to the governor of the Orel region was extended by a month

Oryol court has extended for a month the arrest term of Sergei Lezhnev, advisor to the governor of Oryol region, on the case of fraud and creation of a criminal association. This was reported on November 20 in the joint press service of the courts of the region.

"The court extended S.V. Lezhnev's preventive measure in the form of detention until December 24," the press service's statement is quoted by TASS.

The detention of the official became known on May 26. It was noted that the incident was connected with embezzlement during the reconstruction of the Red Bridge in the regional capital. The total amount of stolen funds is about 76 million rubles. Later it became known about the initiation of criminal proceedings.

The contract for the reconstruction worth 1.41 billion rubles the authorities concluded in November 2020 with LLC "Remspetsmost". The crossing itself was closed in February 2021. Soon it turned out that the general director of the firm, together with other persons, embezzled 179 million rubles. In December 2021, the company was included in the register of unfair suppliers.

After that, several more attempts were made to find a contractor to complete the reconstruction of the bridge. As a result, the contract was awarded to Moscow-based Uvarovskaya Mobile Mechanized Column No. 22 LLC, which agreed to perform the work for 1.6 billion rubles.

In November 2023, the mayor of Orel, Yuri Parakhin, announced that the city had completed the reconstruction of the Red Bridge over the Oka River, which had lasted almost three years.
