Dodon says Moldova's strategic partnership with Russia should be renewed

The strategic partnership between Moldova and Russia should be resumed, and sanctions should be lifted. This was stated by former President and leader of the opposition Party of Socialists Igor Dodon on November 20 on the air of the TV channel "Exclusive-TV".
"It is necessary to resume strategic partnership with Russia, to cancel all imposed sanctions, to return direct flights to the Russian Federation. The current government will not do this. But we will," he said.
Dodon pointed to President Maia Sandu's reluctance to make contacts with the Russian Federation because "her main fear" is that "the Russians will come" to Moldova.
"But what will she say when the Russians start a dialog with the Americans? Scholz has already made the call. Macron could be next, other leaders. What will Maia Sandu go to the parliamentary elections with? This bogeyman is no longer relevant. The situation will change very seriously, and it will happen very quickly, in the coming months," Dodon said.
Earlier, on November 17, Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov said that NATO is trying to draw Moldova into the anti-Russian military bloc. The diplomat noted that a significant part of the Moldovan population understands the existing risks to its security, and the policy of dragging the country into the military bloc fundamentally contradicts the interests of the Moldovan people.
In August, Moldovan political scientist Alexander Korinenko said that Western countries intend to use Moldova in their own interests. He noted that the USA is less engaged in humanitarian projects in the republic, Washington is interested only in security issues.
In July, Igor Dodon said that there are certain factors that indicate that the head of state Maia Sandu together with NATO are preparing the republic for war. Dodon has already warned that Moldova could turn into a new hot spot by the forces of the West. In addition, the politician noted, joint exercises with the U.S. and Romanian militaries are being held in the country.
