- Rospotrebnadzor has prevented 5.5 million dietary supplements with banned substances from going on sale

At the request of Rospotrebnadzor, the operator of the state labeling system "Honest Sign" has suspended the possibility of retail sale of dietary supplements containing melatonin and simethicone, which are prohibited in the production of such products, the supervisory agency told Izvestia.
A total of 5.5 million packages of dietary supplements from 44 manufacturers and 31 importers were blocked for sale, including 2.4 million units of dietary supplements with simethicone and more than 3.1 million units of dietary supplements with melatonin.
According to the Customs Union's technical regulation "On the Safety of Food Products" (TR CU 021/2011), melatonin and simethicone are among the substances that are prohibited for use in the production of dietary supplements.
"The labeling system allows not only to monitor each unit of products in real time, but also to take prompt action in case of establishing the facts of turnover of products that do not meet the requirements of current legislation," - said in Rospotrebnadzor.
The agency added that together with the Center for Development of Advanced Technologies (the system "Honest Mark") continue to work to identify and prevent the circulation of unsafe goods using the capabilities of the digital labeling system. The issue is under special control of Rospotrebnadzor.
