Valery Bganba appointed acting Prime Minister of Abkhazia


Acting President of Abkhazia Badra Gunba appointed former Prime Minister of the republic Valery Bganba as acting head of the government. Gunba signed such a decree on November 20.
"In accordance with the constitutional law of the Republic of Abkhazia "On the Cabinet of Ministers (government) of the Republic of Abkhazia", to appoint acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Bganba Valery Ramshukhovich," the document reads, the text of which is quoted by Apsnypress agency in its Telegram channel.
Bganba was the head of the government of Abkhazia in 2018-2020. In addition, in June - September 2014, he was acting President of the Republic.
Earlier, on November 11, clashes occurred near the building of the State Security Service of Abkhazia in Sukhum. Prosecutor General of the republic Adgur Agrba said that operatives detained several people that day and then decided to release them.
Later, on November 15, a protesters' truck broke down the gate of the fence around the parliament building, and some of the demonstrators were able to enter its inner territory. The opposition then clashed with the police. The next day Abkhazian President Aslan Bzhania announced his readiness to resign if the protesters leave the parliament.
The head of the republic resigned on November 19, fulfilling his part of agreements with the opposition. The Parliament of Abkhazia accepted the resignation of the president. In addition, the head of the government Alexander Ankvab also left his post, while the rest of the ministers continue their work.
On the same day in a conversation with Izvestia Bzhania called the protests in Abkhazia an attempt at a coup d'état. The politician noted that the protesters were not in the mood for negotiations and his resignation was necessary to stabilize the situation.
