In 2024, about 120 million square meters of asphalt was laid in Russia. This was announced on November 20 by Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, answering the question of "Izvestia".

"This year there will be 118-120 million square meters of asphalt laid. We see somewhere around 18-20 thousand reconstructed roads," said Khusnullin.

In addition, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, the bridge over the Kama River bypassing Naberezhnye Chelny on the M-7 highway in Russia is expected to be ready by the end of the year. He noted that this bridge is a continuation of the M-12 highway, adding that it is a very large object that connects Kazan and Yekaterinburg. As he pointed out, on the territory of Bashkiria there is an expansion of the M-7 highway with the bypass of five settlements, which amounted to almost 62 kilometers of new road.

Also Khusnullin noted the importance of the direction from Krasnodar to the Crimean bridge, where work is underway to create a new four-lane road, which will be ready by the end of December.

In 2025, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, a number of major road bypasses are planned to be added to the link between Bashkiria and Yekaterinburg. Work will also take place on the road between Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik and Tuapse.

"We have kept the road plans. First of all, we will bring federal, regional, municipal roads to a normative condition. And if possible to build new ones," summarized Khusnullin.

Earlier in the day the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin opened the traffic on new sections of highways in the Irkutsk region and the Perm Krai in a video link. Thus, a four-lane section of the highway R-255 "Siberia" passes, in particular, bypassing the town of Usolye-Sibirskoye and the settlement of Telma. The highway has become a continuation of the Angarsk bypass, its capacity has increased to 30 thousand cars per day.

Also on November 20, Mishustin said that despite the pressure of sanctions, the transport industry in Russia continues to develop, passenger and freight traffic in the current year maintain positive dynamics.
