US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker for the post of US permanent representative to NATO. This was reported by Times Now on November 20, citing a statement.

"I am pleased to announce that former Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker of the great state of Iowa will become U.S. Ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)," Trump was quoted as saying in the piece.

He called Whitaker a strong warrior and a dedicated patriot and said he would "put America first." The statement also indicated that the President-elect of the United States has "full confidence in the abilities" of his nominee.

Earlier, Trump has already made a number of appointments. So, on the eve of the day he proposed to appoint Linda McMahon to the post of US Secretary of Education. Before that, he said that the American billionaire and investor Howard Lutnick will become the new Secretary of Commerce. On November 18, Trump appointed Brendan Carr to the post of chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

On November 13, the US president-elect announced that American entrepreneurs Ilon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the new US government efficiency department. On November 12, he nominated Fox News host Pete Hegseth to head the Secretary of Defense, and also announced that former U.S. Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe would become head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

The election for the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
