- Zakharova mocked ex-Prime Minister Johnson for wearing a T-shirt that read "Battle for Light"

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on November 20 called former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson "another power broker," commenting on his selfies in a T-shirt with the inscription "Battle for Light."
"We continue to introduce you to the Western faces of Russophobia. Boris Johnson in his social networks supported the Kiev regime's fight for "light". He's an energy man. It was he who blocked Ukraine from negotiating in the spring of 2022 and thus doomed this nation to slaughter to the last Ukrainian," she wrote in her Telegram channel.
"Now photographed in a mercha - this, of course, should 'help'," the diplomat joked.
In early September, Johnson confirmed in a conversation with Russian pranksters Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Alexei Stolyarov) that he was involved in disrupting peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in 2022. As Stolyarov told Izvestia, during a visit to Kiev in 2022, it was Johnson who told the Ukrainian leadership that they would be allocated anything as long as they kept fighting.
Later, on October 12, it was reported that Johnson rejected accusations of disrupting peace talks. In his memoirs, the politician wrote that he first heard about the allegations when he was already retired and vacationing in Greece. That's when he learned that Germany and other countries believed he was guilty of derailing the talks.
The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put into effect the decision of the country's National Security and Defense Council on the impossibility of holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
