US and Germany send new military aid packages to Ukraine

The administration of incumbent United States President Joe Biden and the German government have announced new military aid packages for Ukraine. This was reported on 20 November on the website of the US Department of Defense and the website of the German government.
Thus, the American side sent military aid worth $275 million, which, as indicated, was made "to meet the critical needs of Ukraine" in the field of security and defense.
"This announcement is the 70th tranche of the Biden administration's assistance, which will be provided from the Department of Defense stockpile for Ukraine beginning in August 2021," the Pentagon said in a statement.
The next aid package includes ammunition for artillery rocket systems (HIMARS), 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, 60mm and 81mm mortar rounds, drones, tube-launched, optically tracked and wire-guided missiles (TOW), Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, small arms and ammunition, blasting equipment, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection equipment.
The FRG, in turn, said that the country has sent €28 billion worth of aid to Kiev for the whole time.
"In total, Germany has already provided military aid worth about €28 billion to support Ukraine or has provided it for the coming years," - said in the message of the Government of the country.
It is specified that since the beginning of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Germany has transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) materials from the warehouses of the Ministry of Defense with an estimated value of about €5.2 billion, the cost of training more than 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers amounted to about €282 million, it is also said that funds were spent on the treatment of AFU fighters, but without specifying the cost.
The German aid package included 47 MRAP armored vehicles, four Panzerhaubitze 2000 SAU with spare parts, almost 200 reconnaissance UAVs, three Wisent 1 armored mine clearance vehicles, eight Caracal tactical airborne vehicles and others.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, said that the termination of U.S. military aid would inevitably end in Kiev's defeat. He also described as dangerous the fact that there is no unity on the Ukrainian issue among the European countries.
Prior to that, on November 19, the Financial Times newspaper pointed out that the G20 countries made it clear in a declaration following the summit in Rio de Janeiro that their support for Ukraine was declining. According to the newspaper, some European delegations wanted to include a paragraph condemning Russia in the text, but refused to do so for fear of disrupting the adoption of the document.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
