"Hezbollah has threatened strikes on downtown Tel Aviv in response to Beirut's attacks

The response of the Shiite Hezbollah movement to the Israeli army attacks on the center of Beirut will be strikes on the center of Tel Aviv. This was announced by the movement's secretary general, Naim Qassem.

During his third speech as leader of the movement, Qasem said the group would thus retaliate for the killing of its media relations chief Mohammed Afif in an Israeli strike on a building in downtown Beirut on Sunday, November 17, The Times of Israel reported.

According to Qasem, Israel must pay a "high price" for the assassination.

It is specified that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) strike targeted the Ras al-Nabaa neighborhood in the central part of the Lebanese capital, and not the Hezbollah position in the southern suburbs.

The IDF strike on Beirut's Ras al-Nabaa neighborhood was reported on November 18. Seven people were killed, including one woman. Also as a result of the attack, 16 people were wounded.

Later, on November 20, the IDF Spokesperson's Office reported that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) eliminated two Hezbollah field commanders in Lebanon's coastal areas with airstrikes.

The escalation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah came after the events of September 17 and 18, when thousands of people, including the movement's cadres, were injured when pagers and other communication devices exploded in Lebanon. The country blamed Tel Aviv for what happened. Since then, Israel has continued to eliminate the leadership of the Shiite movement and strike Lebanese territory.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
