Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has opened traffic on new highway sections in the Irkutsk Region and the Perm Territory via video link. This was reported by the press service of the government in Telegram-channel on Wednesday, November 20.

Thus, a four-lane section of the highway R-255 "Siberia" passes, in particular, bypassing the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, the village of Telma. The highway has become a continuation of the Angarsk bypass, and its capacity has increased to 30 thousand cars per day.

On the section of the highway R-258 "Baikal" Irkutsk - Ulan-Ude - Chita metal barrier fencing, noise screens and electric lighting, as well as an underground crosswalk to the settlement of Moty were installed. The highway is ready for the passage of about 20 thousand cars per day, the government said. In addition, sections of the M-7 "Volga" highway were widened to four lanes, it connects eight municipal districts, Perm and Krasnokamsk.

On the same day, Mishustin said that despite the pressure of sanctions, Russia's transport industry continues to develop, passenger and freight traffic this year maintains positive dynamics.

Also on Wednesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said at the plenary session of the Transport of Russia forum that the M-12 Vostok highway will be extended to Yekaterinburg in 2025. On October 16, Khusnullin opened via video link a section of the Perm-Yekaterinburg highway, which was overhauled and will be included in the M-12 highway.
