Experts have assessed the dangers of bacteria on household items

Bacteria are all around us, they are on any surface, including skin and clothes. Whether it is necessary to be afraid of it and how to protect yourself, the experts of clinical diagnostic laboratory INVITRO conducted a study, the results of which were read on November 26 "Izvestia".
"Most of the bacteria found do not pose a threat to a conditionally healthy person, if you follow the rules of hygiene, but if the immunity is reduced, for example, against the background of any disease or there is damage to the skin, it is possible to develop pathology. If the microorganism penetrates through skin damage, it can cause a purulent infection, in the future in a person with weakened immunity process can spread through the blood throughout the body and cause sepsis - up to lethal outcome", - said doctor-bacteriologist clinical diagnostic laboratory "INVITRO-Moscow" Zvolskaya Anna.
Experts noted that the record holder for the number of bacteria was a jacket. The results of the analysis included conditionally pathogenic bacteria that were present in the sample, four of which are in the group of staphylococci. The second place in the number of bacteria was shared by keys and phone, these items have slightly less bacteria. In third place were a bank card and a book.
"These bacteria are considered part of the normal or conditionally pathogenic microflora. The biggest nuisance here is staphylococcus aureus. Quite a large number of bacteria on the phone and keys is due to the fact that both objects we often take with our hands, and they probably lie in the pocket of the same jacket, so naturally they are contaminated with approximately the same bacteria. To neutralize harmful bacteria on surrounding objects, you should periodically wash your jacket and steam the sleeves. Phone and keys should be wiped with sanitizer a couple of times a week, and the book can be held under an ultraviolet lamp", - added Andrei Pozdnyakov, MD, infectious disease doctor, chief physician of clinical diagnostic laboratory "INVITRO-Siberia".
Earlier, on November 15, Andrei Pozdnyakov, candidate of medical sciences, infectious disease doctor, chief physician of clinical diagnostic laboratory "Invitro-Siberia", told "Izvestia" about the danger of norovirus for children. This infection is very dangerous for young children and people with comorbid pathology, because especially repeated vomiting and fever lead to the fact that dehydration develops rapidly, toxicosis increases, and, accordingly, such patients may need intensive and infusion therapy, the specialist noted.
