At the Dialogue on Fakes 2.0 forum, TASS and Dialogue Regions signed a memorandum on the creation of the Global Factchecking Network (GFCN), an international association for factchecking. The concept of the future organization was presented by Vladimir Tabak, General Director of ANO Dialog and ANO Dialog Regions, at the forum on November 20.

"What do we propose? If we talk about goals, the first is to unite the international fact-checking community around those who share our views and values. The second is to define unified factchecking standards and systematic training. We are ready to take on the educational function, and we are ready to perform it both offline and online on the basis of our New Media Workshop and the online platform Dialogue PRO. The third is the introduction of effective tools to combat fakes," Tabak said.

Journalists, experts and organizations will be able to become members of the GFCN after they sign the Code of Responsible Factchecking, undergo training and compliance checks. Tabak noted that the decision to include a potential member will be made by a special council of the future association. General Director of ANO "Dialogue" stressed that the GFCN will differ from other organizations in that not only legal entities, but also individuals will be able to join it.

As TASS Director General Andrei Kondrashov said in his turn, the decision to create an association that would comprehensively fight against the spread of fakes is long overdue.

"Dialogue on Fakes 2.0" is the second international forum to discuss the problem of spreading false information. The event was attended by more than 1 thousand people from 65 countries from all continents.

Earlier, on October 31, Tabak announced the creation of the GFCN. He said that the purpose of the association is to develop services to help refute fake information, together with countries friendly to Russia and other organizations that share the views and values of the state. In particular, a multilingual platform will be introduced where various information can be verified.
