Political analyst says US attempts to isolate Russia in the international arena have failed

It is impossible to isolate Russia in the international arena. Pavel Feldman, a candidate of political science and associate professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, told Izvestia on November 20. He also pointed to the failure of US attempts to separate Russia from other countries in the system of trade relations.

"The limit of anti-Russian sanctions that the West could impose against Russia without damaging its own economy has long been exhausted. Washington's sanctions policy is aimed not so much at weakening Moscow as at complicating the lives of its competitors in the European Union," he emphasized.

According to the political scientist, after the BRICS summit in Kazan, the whole world finally realized that Russia - the world's fourth economy - cannot be excluded from the international system of trade relations, and the interest in Russia on the part of the Global South is enormous.

"European business, formally complying with EU requirements, continues to supply sub-sanctioned goods to its Russian partners under the parallel import scheme. In a market economy, there will always be a way to circumvent stupid Western bans that contradict WTO rules and the UN Charter," Feldman added.

Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that the West's attempts to isolate Russia in the international arena have been unsuccessful.

Prior to that, on November 17, the honorable senator of Paris Yves Pozzo di Borgo called confidence in Russia's isolation erroneous. In his opinion, Russia, on the contrary, has become one of the strengths of the world under construction.

Back on October 30, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also called the results of the BRICS summit, which was held in Kazan from October 22 to 24, 2024, a failure of the West in its attempts to isolate Russia. According to him, the people of the Global South and East realize that a strong Russia is an important factor in the formation of a fair multipolar world order.
