IX BRICS Young Scientists Forum to be held at Sirius

From November 25 to 29 this year, the 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum will be held at the federal territory of Sirius to determine the winners of the 7th BRICS Young Innovators Competition. Researchers from BRICS countries will also take part in the business program of the IV Congress of Young Scientists, the key annual event of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia.

The Young Scientists Forum is aimed at developing international ties among young people, consolidating scientific knowledge to solve common social problems, and strengthening the role of the BRICS in the global arena in the field of science and technology. The event will be attended by more than 170 talented researchers and bright representatives of the scientific youth community of the BRICS countries.

In 2024, Russia, as the BRICS Chair, will organize the annual Forum in four thematic areas: artificial intelligence (AI), digital humanities, environmental climate technologies, nature-like and convergent technologies as a driving force for a sustainable future. Presentations of the works of young scientists of the countries in the program areas will be available to journalists and Congress participants.

A series of foresight interviews with leading Russian companies operating in the international market will be held on the margins of the Forum. Russian market leaders will share their vision of the future and technology development with the Forum participants: EFCO Group, PhosAgro, Nornickel, SIBUR, Gazprombank. Interviews will also be open to Congress participants and journalists.

The Forum program will also include the VII BRICS Young Innovators Competition, which annually brings together talented young entrepreneurs and researchers from the BRICS countries. The aim of the competition is to identify the best research and innovation projects that will make a significant contribution to the development of global science and economy, as well as to involve as many young scientists as possible in international scientific and technical cooperation. This year's applications were selected in five areas: "green" technologies for the chemical industry, "green" technologies for the food industry, "green" technologies for the agricultural industry, AI technologies and in a special nomination "Palladium in Future Technologies" (awarded separately).

The winners will be announced on November 28 before the plenary session of the IV Congress of Young Scientists.

Delegates from the BRICS countries will also participate in the sections of the IV Congress of Young Scientists dedicated to strengthening scientific, technological and educational cooperation with the BRICS countries. Separate discussions will be devoted to the role of the BRICS in the formation of a polycentric world order and the search for new tools to strengthen international contacts. The participants will also discuss opportunities for the effective implementation of joint research projects of young BRICS scientists in priority areas of science and technology development.
