- Shoigu was shown in Sarov the developments of the nuclear center in the interests of the Strategic Air Defense Forces

On November 20, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu visited the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) in Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Region. According to the press service of the Security Council, he familiarized himself with the work of the center's units and developments in the interests of the special military operation (SMO).
"The Secretary of the Russian Security Council visited the Institute of Laser-Physical Research (ILFI), the Institute of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics (ITMF) and other subdivisions of the nuclear center," the statement said.
As Shoigu himself noted, all activities of the center are related to ensuring the security and sovereignty of Russia. He pointed out that scientists and leading specialists of the enterprise are true patriots, ready to defend the interests of their country.
Earlier, on September 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the country's achievements in the nuclear sphere are impressive, adding that the Russian Federal Nuclear Center in Sarov is developing quite rapidly. For his part, Alexei Likhachev, director general of the state corporation Rosatom, said that the Russian National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCPM) fits "absolutely optimally" into the work of the Russian nuclear industry.
Nizhny Novgorod Region is the birthplace of Russia's nuclear industry. It is home to the Russian Federal Nuclear Center - All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF), where domestic technologies were created, on which the Soviet physicist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences Sakharov worked, and now it is the largest scientific and technical center of Russia, which deals with defense, scientific and national economic tasks. RFNC-VNIIEF (part of Rosatom's nuclear weapons complex) was founded in 1946 to implement the Soviet atomic project.
