Poland says talks with NATO to expand missile defense

Poland is negotiating with NATO on expanding the scope of the alliance's missile defense base in Redzikowo. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz told the Polish state-run Polish Press Agency (PPA) on November 20.
"The current threats and what is happening beyond the eastern border encourage us to further expand the scope of operation of this base," Kosiniak-Kamysz said, confirming that the country is negotiating within NATO and with its allies.
He noted that the capabilities provided by the base in Polish Redzikowo (a village in northern Poland, 165 km from the border with Russia. - Ed.) are unique in the scale of capabilities of the entire NATO.
Earlier, on November 13, it became known about the official opening of the U.S. missile defense base in Poland.
On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called it an attempt to contain Russia's capabilities. He noted that such actions are a confirmation that Russian President Vladimir Putin is right about the plans that continue to be implemented. According to Peskov, Putin held talks on the U.S. plans to create opposition neighborhoods in Europe with the 43rd U.S. President George W. Bush Jr. and expressed his concerns about it.
